DKNY<\/a><\/p>\n

DKNY helped kicked off New York Fashion Week on Wednesday with a Fall 2013 men’s collection that celebrated, appropriately, “New York connections.” The brand has always had strong ties to the urban environment, and is known for its easy, wearable clothes that, this season, took on additional versatility. Working with a rich palette of grays, burgundies, navies, and other muted tones, the label showed a sharp and classic collection that played with textures and fabrics. There were several takes on traditional outerwear pieces, like Benjamin Jarvis’ quilted coat and Robert Laby’s varsity jacket, as well as Jeroen Smits’ lush washed coffee-tinted anorak. DKNY is a wardrobe standby, offering smart sportswear classics with that little something extra. There was the nubbly two-toned texture of Brayden Pritchard’s sweater, the deep green of Arthur Gosse’s slim suit, the downtown cool of Malcolm de Ruiter’s leather blazer. DKNY also reminded us that they are more than just duffle coats and beanies\u2014which, it must be said, made several convincing appearances\u2014with a quintet (on Baptiste Radufe, Adonis Bosso, Alexander Beck, Aiden Andrews, and Alexander Johansson) of sharp, urbane city suits, accessorized with sleek sunglasses and messenger bags, for a look that suggested a fresh, young, urban ideal.<\/p>\n
