Alessandro Michele Is the New Creative Director of Valentino<\/strong>
\nFollowing Pierpaolo Piccioli<\/a>‘s departure from Valentino<\/a> last Friday, the luxury Italian house swiftly announced Alessandro Michele<\/a> as its new creative director this week. Michele, hailing from Rome, is poised to assume his new role officially on Tuesday, April 2nd. His inaugural collection for Valentino will debut this fall during Paris Fashion Week Spring\/Summer 2025 season. Expressing his gratitude, Michele remarked<\/a>, \u201cIt\u2019s an incredible honour. I feel the immense joy and the huge responsibility to join a Maison de Couture that has the word \u2018beauty\u2019 carved on a collective story made of distinctive elegance, refinement, and extreme grace.\u201d Notably, Michele will operate from Valentino’s stunning office near the Spanish Steps, marking his debut into couture design. The transition, overseen by Valentino\u2019s CEO, Jacopo Venturini, underscores Michele’s impactful tenure at Gucci, where he served as creative director for seven years starting in January 2015, where he ushered in a free-spirited quirky aesthetic.Under his leadership, Gucci’s revenues nearly tripled from \u20ac3.5 billion in 2014 to \u20ac9.73 billion in 2022, a testament to Michele’s visionary approach. Michele’s new role also brings him back into the orbit of the Kering Group, Gucci’s parent company. Valentino was acquired in 2012 for \u20ac700 million by the investment fund Mayhoola. Last year, Mayhoola sold a 30% stake in the brand to Kering for \u20ac1.7 billion, with Kering set to assume full ownership by 2028, while Mayhoola retains a stake in Kering.
