And the CFDA winner is…<\/strong>
\nNew York Fashion Week came and went this week but starting off the event was the CFDA Fashion Awards that was rolled out virtually this year. Via pre-recorded video on online platform Runway360, CFDA chairman Tom Ford<\/a> announced the winners of this year’s ceremony in American womenswear, menswear, accessories, emerging talent, and global design. Who snagged the six awards? Gabriela Hearst<\/a> won American womenswear designer of the year, Kerby Jean-Raymond<\/a> for Pyer Moss<\/a> took home American Menswear, Christopher John Rogers<\/a> won emerging designer, the indisputable king of the bag Telfar Clemens<\/a> took accesorries designer for Telfar<\/a>, and Kim Jones<\/a> for Dior Men<\/a> and Pierpaolo Piccioli<\/a> for Valentino<\/a> took home Global Men’s and Women\u2019s Designer of the Year respectively. Emily Ratajkowski Pens Essay Accusing Photographer Jonathan Leder<\/strong>
\nModel Emily Ratajkowski<\/a> penned a story published in The Cut and New York Magazine writing about an incident where she describes photographer Jonathan Leder acting improperly on an editorial job then, years later, using the photos for three books, published without her consent. “I don\u2019t remember kissing, but I do remember his fingers suddenly being inside of me. Harder and harder and pushing and pushing like no one had touched me before or has touched me since. I could feel the shape of myself and my ridges, and it really, really hurt.” In the essay on how models are powerless in owning their image titled Buying Myself Back: When Does a Model Own Her Own Image?<\/a> Ratajkowski also mentions how she was sued for $150,000 by a paparazzo for posting her own likeness to her Instagram and that artist Richard Prince used her Instagram photo without her permission in an artwork that sold for $80,000.
