Naomi Campbell honored with CFDA Fashion Icon Award<\/strong>
\nOn Thursday, the CFDA announced it would honor at their award ceremony supermodel Naomi Campbell<\/a> with the Fashion Icon Award, where she joins other recipients like Kate Moss, Pharrell Williams, Rihanna, and Beyonce. The British icon has transcend fashion and pop culture landing notable covers as the first black model to appear on the cover of TIME magazine, French Vogue and Russian Vogue as well as the first British black model to appear on the cover of British Vogue. She recently joined the latter title as contributing editor, all-while maintaining a decades-long career walking for notable houses like the late Azzedine Alaia, Versace, and Givenchy. In a press statement Campbell explains, \u201cBeing from London, my personal style has always been tremendously influenced by both the dynamic, ever-changing nature of street culture and the music scene. I grew up in this industry and I\u2019m forever grateful to the iconic American fashion designers who have supported me and celebrated me throughout my career.\u201d [VOGUE<\/a>]<\/p>\n
