When it comes to edge, model and industrial designer Marland Backus<\/a> has more than enough cred to reach the street quota. Just ask brands like Balenciaga and Gucci who’ve on numerous occasions borrowed her Brooklyn grit and androgynous disposition to front their collections that continuously play with gender codes. Such was the inspiration of the latest MDC editorial shot by photographer David Dunan<\/a> that aims to match voluminous proportions with transparent elements to show what lies underneath. Stylist Woo Lee<\/a> takes on the new-gen designer challenge as she curates floating silhouettes around Backus’ lithe frame and features pieces from the model’s own jewelry line.<\/p>\n
