Leena Nair is Chanel’s New Global CEO<\/strong>
\nIn leading efforts to diversify and modernize its business, Chanel<\/a> has appointed a new global chief executive officer to take up the role at the end of January, Leena Nair, formerly from Unilever. The former chief human resources officer (the first female, first Asian, and youngest in that position) spent 30 years at the Anglo-Dutch parent of brands like Dove, Paula\u2019s Choice, Ben & Jerry\u2019s, and Vaseline. According to Chanel’s press release shared on WWD, Nair has \u201cbuilt a global reputation for progressive and human-centered leadership, delivering significant business impact\u201d and went on to describe her as \u201chighly respected as a visionary leader, whose ability to champion a long-term, purpose-driven agenda is matched with a consistently strong record of business outcomes.\u201d [WWD<\/a>]<\/p>\n

Stefano Tonchi Cuts Ties with L’Officiel<\/strong>
\nConsulting chief creative officer for L’Officiel Stefano Tonchi<\/a> has cut ties with the magazine after news broke last week<\/a> that the City of New York was suing the American arm of the French fashion publication for not paying freelancers<\/a>. In solidarity, Tonchi who was a consultant for the brand, not a full-time employee has temporarily taken a step back according to tabloid site Page Six<\/a>. [Daily Front Row<\/a>]<\/p>\n

Guram Gvasalia named creative director of Vetements<\/strong>
\nAfter years of primarily focusing on the business side of the brother-founded brand Vetements<\/a>, Guram Gvasalia<\/a> is stepping into the role of creative director. Demna left the brand in 2019 to give his full attention to Balenciaga, ever since the designs were led by a collective that Guram will now oversee, alongside his CEO status. Guram said, \u201cThe truth is, creativity is a part of human nature. We all have it. Some are just too scared to channel it \u2019cause of the society and the boxes most of us are put in since we are kids. We all have our own sensibilities and if they are calling to you\u2014just let them out!\u201d. The new creative director\u2019s most recent fall \u201822 collection was released on November 25th.
