Demna Gvasalia Drops Last Name<\/strong>
\nAfter the drop of Balenciaga\u2019s Fall \u201822 show<\/a>, creative director Demna Gvasalia<\/a> pulled a Cher moment and announced that he would no longer go by his last name Gvasalia, and moving forward will go by Demna. A press release stated. \u201cFrom now on, Demna uses only his first name, distinguishing an artist title from a birth name and therefore separating creative work from personal life, in all press going forward, he chooses to be referred to simply as Demna.\u201d Sustainability was at the forefront of Demna\u2019s mind for this collection, almost 90% of the collection was derived from sustainable fabrics including upcycled leather, and the theme was very much 90s grunge street style. Edward Enninful Will Release His Memoir in the New Year<\/strong>
\nVogue European Editorial Director and British Vogue editor-in-chief, Edward Enninful announced this week that he will be releasing his memoir titled, A Visible Man in September 2022. In his shared Instagram post, Enninful says quarantine finally allowed for the time to gather and reflect on over 30 years of working in the business, “I wanted to share my own experiences from childhood to the offices of Vogue, and show how anyone can make change in the world, with a little passion, perseverance and a pure heart.” You can pre-order the work before its Fall release date here<\/a>.

Lawsuit Claims L\u2019Officiel USA Doesn’t Pay Freelancers<\/strong>
\nThe City of New York filed a lawsuit against L\u2019Officiel USA Inc. for failing to pay freelancers, refusing to provide a written contract, and retaliation, violating New York City’s Freelance Isn\u2019t Free Act. Under the act passed in 2017, a hiring party must pay a freelance worker for the services provided on or before the date the compensation is due under the contract, or if the contract does not specify, no later than 30 days after the completion of the freelance worker\u2019s services under the contract. At least two dozen freelance writers, photographers, and stylists are impacted as the lawsuit states the outpost has an \u201cegregious pattern or practice of unlawfully failing to compensate \u2014 or in some cases to timely compensate \u2014 at least 24 freelance workers for work performed by them.\u201d The magazine owned by the French media company, Jalou Media Group is apparently owning freelancers in Paris and London<\/a> a sum thought to be close to 2 million euros. Burberry Enters The Rental Retail Space<\/strong>
\nAs the rental\/resale industry grows for luxury brands as a form of sustainable longevity for their products, Burberry<\/a> has also joined the movement. With a partnership with My Wardrobe HQ, the luxury brand will provide customers with iconic pieces from their inventory, including VIP clients donations and 40% of each sale going to Smart Works, an NGO that helps unemployed women in need of support by providing them with interview clothes.
