Jacquemus’ latest was the most mature collection from its designer Simon Porte Jacquemus yet. Being one of the most talked about new French brands carries a certain amount of pressure. For Spring, Simon conceived his wearable, and arguably most inventive, pieces yet letting his inspired tailoring be his beast of burden. Once again Simon looked to the South of France for inspiration, this time more to do with the prairie than days at the seaside. Down the runway it was billows, frills and shapes to spare, all topped with an extra wide brimmed straw hat that, together, all felt quaint and sophisticated. It’s a collection that’s going to be ever-present in coming editorials.
