Sophie Theallet S/S 17

With the fashion week calendar filled to the brink with more talent than ever before, it gets harder to process the copious amount of collections in the market. Enter Sophie Theallet, whose atelier presentation unveiled a stunning, intimate showing from her latest collection for Spring 2017. Detailed pieces in earthy colored tones like moss-green, sky blue, cloud white, coral, and sorrel brown were expertly intermixed into textures of silk, waxed raffia, and lace the mimicked animal marks like leopard spots and crocodile scales. A floral motif with exaggerated spadix (for all you flower buffs) was printed on pieces throughout with a raised relief even juxtaposed into knitwear. Her signature hourglass, cinched-waist tailoring, halter necklines, and couture-like eyelet were back and more luxurious than ever – iridescent peacock and ostrich feathers peppered the high glam looks while surprising zipper trims offered versatility with a dash of girlish fun. Those very zippers took many of her adaptable dresses easily from day to night with the option to swap in and out shirts & crop tops. The finishing touches came via a shoe collaboration with Jean-Michel Cazabat with delicately constructed metallic, snakeskin t-straps heels.
