As global leaders meet for the 2015 COP21 (Conference of Parties) forum today to address climate concerns and ultimately work to legal actions that would reduce greenhouse gas emissions, Giovanni and Amber Testino launched an Instagram call to action that began yesterday on November 29th dubbed the #ClimateCatwalk. In partnership with their creative agency Art Partner, the idea is a virtual march, meant to resemble the lineup on a runway, that would rally support for sustainable energy by 2050. Both Giovanni and Amber are advocates for climate change and due to the recent terrorist attacks in Paris, were unable to walk in the climate march after its cancellation. As to not lose the the impetus of the potential landmark outcome, the idea of the digital catwalk was created and hopes to activate influencers, industry leaders, fashion icons and celebrities to join in posting their own videos. Since yesterday a bevy of support from notables such as Vogue Italia and Paris, Mario Sorrenti, Peter Pilotto and models Anja Rubik, Malgosia Bela, Mariacarla Boscono, Natalia Vodianova and Eva Herzigova have been filling up feeds.
Joining in is simple with the instructions outlined by Art Partner 1) Film yourself moving left to right, how you “walk” is up to you! 2) Select a strong “Cover Frame” mid-stride and post to your Instagram. 3) Challenge three friends to join the march!
