Public School designers Dao-Yi Chow and Maxwell Osborne finished up their turn in the CFDA Fashion Incubator last year, and it’s clear they learned more than a thing or two during their two-year run. Public School has always been known for its urban edge, but there was a new sharpness to the leather-infused collection for Fall 2013, most obvious in David Hlinka’s sleek suit. Several notably cool pieces of outerwear, like Alexander Beck’s outlined jacket and Lyle Lodwick’s leather vest, felt grown-up without losing their youthful flair. There was a subtle appeal to nuanced pieces like the Isaac Ekblad’s softly gradiated sweater and the baggy shape of the shorts many of the models wore over leggings. Nothing seemed a better reflection of the show’s fine admixture, however, than Adonis Bosso’s slim suit, toughened up with a leather top underneath and topped off with a sturdy beanie.
