Calvin Klein S/S 13

The Calvin Klein look has always leaned towards refined minimalism, so much so that whenever the mega-brand diverts from its time-tested formula it is cause for excitement. The Calvin S/S 13 presentation was a sporty mix of striped separates, bold shades of viridian and a youthful energy that made each piece pop.

Designer Kevin Carrigan presented looks from three separate lines, but there was a cohesive feel that moved through the offerings and grounded the presentation in a timely aesthetic sensibility. All in all the mood was modern; graphic black and white stripes adding interests, sleekly cut slate suits offering a chic riff on menswear and of course, the occasional reveal of chiseled abdominals providing sex appeal. The piece with the most editorial appeal was a head to toe paint splattered look that provided an appealingly energetic take on the season’s pattern obsession. Editors took note, particularly those who didn’t have their eyes glued to the aforementioned chiseled underwear models.
