Jeremy Scott S/S 13

Oh Jeremy Scott…what would fashion do without you? The industry’s resident badass is never afraid to court controversy or throw caution to the wind. His Spring collection is sure to raise a few eyebrows with its ‘Arab Spring’ motif and the sociopolitical implications that go with the kind of imagery he’s playing with. Inspired by current events and quite possibly, the M.I.A. ‘Bad Girls’ video, Scott showed metallic burqas, kaffiyeh mini-skirts, AK-47 charms. These aren’t exactly subtle or nuanced takes on a Middle Eastern theme, but expecting subtle and nuanced from Jeremy Scott is a bit like expecting sequined leopard print jumpsuits at Calvin Klein…

Love it or hate it, Scott definitely has an audience for his work and with the elegant touches towards the end of the show, it is likely that his reach will broaden. The gold-chain embellished bustier finale look and vintage Versace-esque patterns are sure to resonate with people who may not ordinarily reach for Scott’s wares. Then there are the stars – expect to see front row guests like Swizz Beatz, Paris Hilton and Sky Ferreira, decked out in Scott’s s/s vision sooner rather than later.
