The Morocco glimpsed this summer by Paul Rowland provoked a vision for his FW09 Supreme package that is unapologetically sensual, defiantly sybaratic and very very lush. At a time of cresting anxiety about an industry wide recession, this Supreme show package presents an escapist fantasy inspired by that trip, Antonio’s “1001 Nights” illustrations and Rowland’s constant need to create shifting worlds as the context for his vision for his agency.  Last season the Supreme girl was on a spiritual retreat to an upstate ashram. This season she is feeling her body again (see images of Rachel Alexander, Alana and Lais) . Miss Supreme is now a sexy Salome stained in fantastic shades of purples and blues and golds, indulging herself in her boudoir with a painted boy or two. The mood is twilight, the scenario is painted and the props are extravagantly theatrical and it is that controlled handling of the artifice that continues to put Supreme, literally ahead of the pack season after season. Not only is this the first show package to hit the OTM desk, it is so beautifully articulated and obsessively packaged that  when you unfold its purple and gold gates , you end up buying into the idea of ALL the Supreme girls as a part of a collective vision . FW 09 is also the first show package fully shot by Rowland himself and the sensuality and romanticism expressed here is so hedonistic in its beauty, you pray that it will represent a true direction for the fashion industry this season.
