If there were a prize given for the most fun had on a runway, Anna Sui would win every year. The seminal New York designer brings joy to the catwalks with her lively designs and bubbly models. This season’s Sui’s journey was defined by a series of offbeat influences, fellow designer Todd Oldham’s expansive coffee table tome on Alexander Girard’s textiles, the Pucci caftans auctioned off from Liz Taylor’s collection at Christies and of course a touch of cartoonish kitsch in those owl & koi knit hats. Each piece brought a smile to our faces and judging by the blithe mood on the catwalk, the clothes are as fun to wear as they are to look at.
