When Perry Ellis presented its Fall/Winter 2011 collection, it was clear from the backdrop of leafless trees that the clothes were meant more for the latter than the former. Chunky sweaters and heavy wool trousers were finished by thick knit caps and hardy gloves in a collection that promised to provide protection from the biting cold that has been sweeping through the city this week. Various shades of gray and light blue were the predominant palettes, a shift away from the navy and maroon that ruled the collection last Fall. Suede safari jackets were among the classic outerwear pieces that anchored the collection, another steady outing from a classic American brand.
