It may seem like every other young designer is catering to the Soho crowd, but newcomer Wes Gordon’s intimate presentation had a decidedly uptown feel. The subdued and elegant looks crafted by Gordon, seemed fit for the society set and judging by the high-powered buyers seated in the Empire Hotel that morning, venerable stores have taken note of Gordon’s emergence on the scene. The Central Saint Martins grad and former Tom Ford assistant, presented a refined set of looks inspired by his childhood summers on Florida’s Gasparilla Island and the breezy getaway vibe definitely came through. Sheer fabrics, tailored blouses and dressy shorts were all key looks, but the true show stopper was Gordon’s elegant gown with the unexpected combination of gold lamé and grosgrain.
