Meryll Rogge Succeeds Francesco Risso as Marni’s New Creative Director
Fresh off her win at the ANDAM Prize, Meryll Rogge has been named the new creative director of Marni, marking a breakthrough as the only female creative lead across OTB Group’s brands. The announcement comes just weeks after Francesco Risso’s departure from the Italian house. Only The Brave (OTB), Marni’s parent company, confirmed the appointment on Tuesday. Rogge said, “I’m truly honored to join Marni—a house I’ve long admired for its independent spirit. To take on a role defined by such visionary creative directors is both humbling and inspiring. I’m deeply grateful to [OTB founder and chairman Renzo Rosso] and [CEO Stefano Rosso] for recognizing the resonance between our worlds and for entrusting me with this extraordinary opportunity. I look forward to helping shape what comes next for Marni.” A graduate of Antwerp’s fashion program, Rogge spent seven years at Marc Jacobs before returning to Europe as head of womenswear at Dries Van Noten. She was a finalist for the LVMH Prize in 2022, the Woolmark Prize in 2025, and recently became the first woman to be named Designer of the Year at the 2024 Belgian Fashion Awards. Rogge’s appointment comes as OTB expands its creative leadership, with Simone Bellotti at Jil Sander and Glenn Martens helming both Maison Margiela and Diesel. [W Magazine]
Chanel to Show Its Métiers d’Art Collection in New York City
Chanel is returning to the New York runway for the first time in seven years. On December 2nd, the French fashion house will debut Matthieu Blazy’s first Métiers d’Art collection, with the exact location to be revealed soon. The brand highlighted its long-standing ties to the U.S., dating back to founder Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel’s first trips across the Atlantic in the 1930s. Bruno Pavlovsky, president of fashion and president of Chanel SAS, said, “I am delighted that Matthieu Blazy has chosen New York for his first Métiers d’Art show. He will make the creative energy of the city he knows so well resonate with the exceptional savoir-faire of the house.” Blazy is set to make his official runway debut for Chanel during the Spring/Summer 2025 ready-to-wear shows in Paris this October. Karl Lagerfeld, last brought Métiers d’Art to New York in 2018 with a show inspired by ancient Egypt, staged inside the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Temple of Dendur just two months before his passing. To tease what’s to come, Chanel released the first glimpse of Blazy’s creative direction—a vintage New York subway map, reimagined with the brand’s signature double-C logo. [WWD]
Love Magazine Relaunches Under New Creative Direction
British fashion magazine Love is making a comeback this September with the launch of its first issue as an independent biannual publication. Now led by Juan Costa Paz and Nordine Benotmane, part of the Paris-based creative agency Convoy, the revamped title marks a new era for Love, one rooted in European culture and connected to a broader global creative community. The new editorial direction promises a perspective that moves beyond the Anglo-American lens, spotlighting emerging voices and ideas across fashion, art, identity, health, politics, technology, and travel. Costa Paz said, “I’ve lived in Paris for over twelve years, and the city has shaped the way I see the world. With Love, I want to reflect that generosity back – to spotlight a new generation in France that’s self-aware, culturally engaged, and globally connected. There’s a youth here exploring its identity while staying closely attuned to what’s happening elsewhere—in Lagos, Seoul, Buenos Aires.” Known for its bold covers, Love was originally founded in 2009 by stylist and fashion journalist Katie Grand. For more than a decade, the magazine served as a defining voice in fashion publishing. Grand’s departure from the Condé Nast-owned title in 2020 marked a turning point. Now, with new leadership and a fresh vision, Love begins its next chapter. [BoF]
Mona Tougaard Always Finds the Light
“I’ll do whatever it takes to get the shot,” after a season of closing runway shows, fronting covers, and stacking campaigns like Uno cards, Mona Tougaard has more than earned a summer respite. The New Super has done it all: swimming through desert sand, trekking glaciers in kitten heels (they could have at least given her some height), and yes, even sharing a boat with a lizard (presumably unpaid). Directed with satirical flair by Columbine Goldsmith, Models.com linked with Tougaard at our new favorite uptown hub, The Surrey, to spotlight her surreal on-set quips, signature slow-motion modeling wisdom, and explore the subtle art of finding the light, even if it means braving the elements.
