A McQueen Off-Broadway Production Is Coming
September’s NYFW is known for attracting participants from outside the city, and this year, McQueen will be making a debut—not with a fashion show, but with the off-Broadway production House of McQueen. This stage adaptation of the late Lee Alexander McQueen’s life was written by Darrah Cloud, directed by Sam Helfrich, and executive produced by Rick Lazes. Gary James McQueen, the designer’s nephew, will serve as the creative director. Since McQueen’s passing 15 years ago, his work has been celebrated in the Costume Institute’s 2011 Savage Beauty exhibition and featured in the 2018 documentary by Ian Bonhote and Peter Ettedgui. His rise and fall were chronicled in Dana Thomas’ 2015 book. Additionally, his friend and benefactor Isabella Blow will be the subject of the upcoming biopic The Queen of Fashion, starring Andrea Riseborough. House of McQueen has been a decade in the making, and a sister production will premiere in Los Angeles just a month after its New York debut. Previews for House of McQueen are set to begin in August. The Dior Cruise Show Is Going to Rome
For her upcoming Dior Cruise show in Rome, Maria Grazia Chiuri has chosen another historic residence with a garden. She will unveil the Cruise 2026 collection on May 27 at Villa Albani Torlonia, an 18th-century complex home to a remarkable collection of Greek and Roman antiquities. This privately owned villa remains largely unknown to locals, as it can only be visited by appointment, and photography is prohibited. Rarely used for fashion events, it will, for the first time, open its gates to host Dior’s Cruise 2026 show. Dior said, “This extraordinary villa, a secret treasure trove of ancient Roman wonders, will exceptionally — and for the first time — open its gates to host the Dior 2026 cruise show. The elegance of the silhouettes dreamed up by Maria Grazia Chiuri will shine within this outstanding cradle of neoclassicism.” [WWD]
