Marie Claire Taps Nikki Ogunnaike, Christopher Kane Goes Into Administration, and More News You Missed

Nikki Ogunnaike Is the New Editor in Chief of Marie Claire
Nikki Ogunnaike has been appointed as editor-in-chief at Marie Claire, departing from her previous position as senior digital editor at Harper’s Bazaar. Prior to her tenure at Bazaar, Ogunnaike worked at GQ and Elle. Reflecting on her new role, Ogunnaike said, โ€œFor nearly 30 years, Marie Claire has been the go-to source for women who seek to lead a life of purpose and power. As a longtime admirer, Iโ€™m thrilled to join the Marie Claire team and lead this brand into a new era. Women who are passionate about their careers, personal style and the world around them will find a new destination that speaks to their entire identity. I canโ€™t wait to begin this new chapter.โ€ This appointment follows the acquisition of Marie Claire by the British company Future in 2021, which resulted in a reduction of annual print editions from seven to three in September of that year. Ogunnaike’s primary focus will be on expanding Marie Claire’s fashion and luxury coverage across all platforms. [WWD]

Christopher Kane Goes Into Administration

The company’s board has filed a notice of intention to appoint FTS Recovery as administrators to devise a solution plan for the brand. The company’s principals stated, “Key stakeholders have been notified. A period of accelerated marketing activity will now ensue, aiming to identify potential interested parties to either refinance the company’s existing debt or find a buyer for the business and assets.” Kane established his company 17 years ago and subsequently sold it to Kering before repurchasing it in 2018. Shayne Oliver Steps Down From Design Duties at Hood by Air
Shayne Oliver, the co-founder of Hood by Air, will no longer be involved in designing for the brand; however, he will retain his position as a shareholder in the company. Last summer, Oliver stepped down from his role as design director at Hood by Air and relocated to Berlin to pursue other ventures within the Shayne Oliver Group. This group encompasses Oliver’s creative studio, Anonymous Club, his basics line known as As Seen by Shayne Oliver (A.S.S.O), and his upcoming high-end ready-to-wear brand, Shayne Oliver, slated for launch in early 2024. In addition to his fashion pursuits, Oliver is also venturing into the realm of art. This August, the Shayne Oliver Group will debut a three-month exhibition called “Mall of Anonymous” at Berlin’s Schinkel Pavillon. The exhibition will showcase Oliver’s designs alongside artwork created by Oliver himself and other artists. [BoF]

Vogue Adria Is Coming
A new edition of Vogue, titled “Vogue Adria,” is set to launch later this year in collaboration with Condรฉ Nast and Media 3.0 Publishing. The print version of the magazine will be published in Croatian and Serbian, while the online edition will be available in Slovenian and English. Although the specific members of the editorial team have not yet been revealed to the public, they will be based in the capital cities of Croatia, Slovenia, and Serbia. Media 3.0 was established by Sonja Kovacs, Nenad Janjatovic, and Milan Djacic. Janjatovic said, “As a team, we strongly believe in the power of Vogue as a brand and its ability to bring diversity and push the boundaries in the right direction. We strongly believe art, fashion, and culture are the ones that transcend borders and barriers and are necessary for any sort of dialogue. Therefore, our idea is to focus on creating a viable and auspicious bridge between East and West. To introduce them properly, without prejudices and stereotypes, and to bring unexplored, neglected narratives to the fore.โ€ [BoF]
