The 2022 CFDA Awards Winners
This week, the celebrities and industry insiders flocked to Cipriani South Street at Casa Cipriani for the 2022 CFDAAwards. The winners are Catherine Holstein, creative director of Khaite as Womenswear Designer of the Year, and Emily Adams Bode Aujla of Bode, the Menswear Designer of the Year for the second year in a row. Raul Lopez of Luar was awarded the American Accessory Designer of the Year, and Elena Velez won the American Emerging Designer of the Year. Skims founders, Kim Kardashian, Emma, and Jens Grede, received the CFDA’s first ever Innovation Award, Eva Chen, director of fashion partnerships at Instagram, presented the Positive Social Influence Award to Slaysians from The House of Slay featuring Prabal Gurung, Laura Kim, Phillip Lim, Tina Leung, and Ezra William. Cher presented the Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award to her friends Laurie Lynn Stark and Richard Stark of Chrome Hearts. [WWD]

Condé Nast Files Lawsuit Against Drake and 21 Savage
Publishing giant Condé Nast has issued a lawsuit against rappers Drake and 21 Savage for using a fake Vogue cover in the promotion of their new album, Her Loss. The corporation filed the 30-page lawsuit on Monday and “is seeking at least $4 million in damages or triple the rappers’ profits from their album and its “counterfeit” magazine — whichever is higher.” The publishing company ordered the rappers to immediately stop marketing the fake magazine and covers, on social media, and blocked them from using Anna Wintour’s name and association.[NPR] [Vulture]

Versace Heads to LA for F/W 2023 Show
Yet another destination show has been announced, this time from Versace. Like Celine, the Italian luxury house will be headed to Los Angeles, California, to debut its blended womenswear and menswear collection for F/W 2023. Donatella Versace said, “For me, Hollywood is both a place and a state of mind. It is about storytelling and magic, power and vulnerability, creativity and emotional expression. It is a perfect location for Versace. I cannot wait to be back.” [Hypebae]

EIC of Sara Moonves “Fifty Years, Fifty Stories” Book Is Out
To celebrate W Magazine’s 50th anniversary, editor-in-chief Sara Moonves launched “Fifty Years, Fifty Stories” and, before that this past September launched 17 covers with iconic supermodels like Anok Yai, Amber Valetta, Cindy Crawford, Bella Hadid, and more. The book, on the other hand, takes readers through the publication’s most iconic and legendary stories and images featuring Amber Valletta, photographs by Tim Walker of Tilda Swinton, exclusive imagery of pop culture icons like Dolly Parton; advertising campaigns by Steven Meisel; bold covers of the era of the supermodel including Naomi, Kate, Cindy, Linda, Christy, and Gisele, and more. KITH Founder Ronnie Fieg, Is the First-Ever Creative Director of the New York Knicks
Founder of streetwear brand KITH Ronnie Fieg was announced as the first-ever creative director of the New York Knicks. Fieg has collaborated with the basketball team in the past, designing city edition jerseys for the Knicks. With this new role, he will help “build a community around the international brand, as well as develop an in-house line of products.” [Highsnobiety]

Former Miss Puerto Rico and Miss Argentina Tie The Knot
Congratulations are in order to the former Miss Puerto Rico (Fabiola Valentin) and Miss Argentina (Mariana Varela) who secretly got married in Puerto Rico on October 28th. The couple met at the 2020 Miss Grand International competition in Thailand and have been dating ever since. The MGI organization, fellow pageant figures, and celebrities congratulated the couple. Gigi Hadid, Shonda Rhimes, and Other Celebrities Flee Twitter
Just two weeks after buying Twitter, Elon Musk has made some drastic changes. Musk’s first companywide emails were massive layoffs, including officials who oversaw content moderation, Human Rights, and security. Due to the news, many celebrities have left the platform, like Toni Braxton, Shonda Rhimes, Sara Bareilles, and Gigi Hadid. Hadid said, “for a long time, but especially with its new leadership… it’s becoming more and more of a cesspool of hate & bigotry, and it’s not a place I want to be a part of.” [NYT] [Harpers Bazaar Arabia]
