London Fashion Week New Schedule
Many designers debuting their S/S 23 collections had to make last-minute changes to comply with the mourning period for Queen Elizabeth II’s death and funeral this coming Monday. Burberry is now showing during Paris Fashion Week on September 26th at what is rumored to be Riccardo Tisci’s last show for the brand. KNWLS will present their S/S 23 collection today, and Molly Goddard, S.S Daley, and J.W. Anderson will present on Saturday. While Nensi Dojaka, Simone Rocha, Erdem, and Christopher Kane will debut their collections on Sunday, Richard Quinn, who moved his show to Tuesday, September 20th, will close out London Fashion Week. Kanye West Terminates Gap Partnership
Ye has pulled out of his Gap deal and terminated their partnership. Mr. West and the apparel chain started collaborating in 2020 under Yeezy Gap. Earlier in the month, West spoke about his frustration with Gap executives and posted a clip from their meeting where you can hear him saying, “You have to really give me the position to be Ye and let me do what I’m thinking, or I have to do the thinking somewhere else.” On Thursday, West’s lawyers sent a letter to Gap informing them that Yeezy LLC is terminating the arrangement. According to the letter seen by The Wall Street Journal, Gap “breached the agreement by not releasing apparel and opening retail stores as planned.” But don’t worry, folks, the termination will not affect merchandise, and customers will still be able to buy items from the Gap stores and the Yeezy Gap x Balenciaga merch. Patagonia “Goes Purpose” with the Patagonia Purpose Trust
Patagonia founder Yvon Chouinard, who started the company half a century ago, has planned a rather unorthodox exit strategy and the apparel company took to Instagram to share the news. Chouinard wrote a letter stating that he never wanted to be a businessman and decided to ultimately “go purpose” instead of “go public.” Chouinard, his wife, and children intend to transfer their ownership of Patagonia, valued at a whopping $3 billion “to a specially designed trust and a nonprofit organization. The NGO was created to preserve the company’s independence and ensure that all of its profits — some $100 million a year — are used to combat climate change and protect undeveloped land around the globe.” Mr. Chouinard said, “hopefully, this will influence a new form of capitalism that doesn’t end up with a few rich people and a bunch of poor people.” Family members and close advisers will supervise the Patagonia Purpose Trust, but that’s not all. The Chouinards also donated the other 98 percent of Patagonia, its common shares, to a newly established nonprofit organization called “the Holdfast Collective, which will now be the recipient of all the company’s profits and use the funds to combat climate change.” [NYT]

Haider Ackermann x Fila Are Collaborating
After some buzz creating that top for Timothée Chalamet, French designer Haider Ackermann is collaborating with Fila for a series of one-off collections for menswear, womenswear, and an accessories collaborative collection with the streetwear brand. Ackermann announced the collaboration on Instagram, saying, “I was quite surprised when I was contacted by FILA with the idea to collaborate. Unknown things make my heart beat faster because I believe in the power of the unexpected, so I willingly took on the challenge.” The collection will debut on the runway in Manchester on November 17.
