Tommy Hilfiger Will Return To NYFW With ‘Phygital’ Show
After a three-year hiatus, American lifestyle brand Tommy Hilfiger returns to the runway this upcoming NYFW. The live show will be “see now, buy now” and will take place on September 11th at the Skyline Drive-In in Brooklyn, while a parallel digital show will be streamed on Roblox. It will be displayed to Roblox users, with avatars wearing the collection walking through the platform’s virtual New York City. All products will immediately be available for purchase and even Roblox members can buy digital products. Hilfiger said, “This season is all about the collision of my favorite archival inspirations with the new live event concepts and virtual worlds. It’s the perfect expression of what we stand for as we pay homage to our roots with a return to NYFW.” [Vogue Business]

Dior Seeks then Retracts Compensation from Valentino
Valentino’s couture show on the Spanish Steps in Rome undoubtedly drew a crowd of spectators that ‘hampered’ access to nearby storefronts, prompting Christian Dior Italia’s retail manager to demand €100,000 to be paid in 15 days. Ahead of the event, Valentino had requested permits to showcase the collection at a critical location in the city and sent out a letter to other luxury retailers in the area, assuring “guaranteed regular foot traffic to the stores.” However, on the event day, Dior customers were “refused access and blocked at the barriers,” so the store “remained empty and could not operate from the early hours of the afternoon.” Dior has already asked Valentino to ignore the former letter, stating “cordial relations” between the two luxury houses and “mutual respect.” Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli worked for over 20 years together and were named co-creative directors of Valentino in 2008 before Chiuri went to Dior in 2016. Diesel Set to Open S/S 23 Show to the Viewing Public
With S/S 23 collection shows approaching in September, the creative director of Diesel, Glenn Martens, has announced that he is opening the show to the public. Through online registration starting September 1st, anyone will have the lucky opportunity to watch the show in person on a first-come, first serve basis by logging on to the brand’s website. Martens said, “There’s a fun factor to Diesel, a joy factor, the identity of Diesel is very clear, and it’s not too serious, which is why I think people are obsessed with the brand all over again. With this opening, we want to bring the energy that only people who love the brand or are curious to see what’s next can add to a fashion show.” [WWD]
