Tom Ford Steps Down as CFDA Chairman
After a three-year tenure, Tom Ford has stepped down as chairman of the Council of Fashion Designers of America. Ford was appointed to the role after chairwoman Diane Von Furstenberg resigned and took on the role in 2019, a year before the global pandemic. In a statement shared on Instagram, Ford said, “On May 31st, I will be ending my three-year term as Chairman of the CFDA. When I began my role as chairman in June of 2019, my goal was to help the American fashion industry become more globally recognized for its talent and importance. I could not have imagined the extraordinary circumstances that both the industry and the world would have to navigate—that a pandemic would shut the world down and change the course of our lives and of our businesses forever.” Ford will stay on the board of the non-profit, while Steven Kolb will serve as the interim Chair of the CFDA. Kim Jones Invites Eli Russell Linnetz of ERL to Design Men’s Resort Collection
For the Dior Men Men’s Resort, 2023 show in Los Angeles Kim Jones decided to bring on Eli Russell Linnetz of ERL to design looks heavily inspired by Dior archives. When speaking on why Jones collaborated with Linnetz he said, “I thought it was nice to work with younger designers I admire and give them the platform through Dior in a different way. Talking to all the people that I know that have gone through the pandemic and being independent, it’s been difficult, so I thought it was a nice way to support people and also, glean a bit of how they’re working — It gives us the capacity to do something in a different way than we’d work on it as Dior.” [Hypebeast]
