Kenneth Ize Constructs A Vivid, Optimistic Collection To Kick Off PFW

Fashion month is going by in a blitz, and to start off the #PFW festivities former LVMH prize ‘19 finalist, Kenneth Ize presented his spring/summer 2022 collection “A New Dawn” at Palais de Tokyo. Known for his craftsmanship of traditional Yoruba Aso-oke fabric, the Nigerian designer and recent Karl Lagerfeld collaborator opted for a soothing live jazz performance from artist, cktrl, to set the tone for the show. Ize created a compelling narrative through his signature fringes with a further exploration of vibrantly, pleated suits that marry mens and womenswear together. Head wraps, sweater vests, and a twist to the utility bomber jackets & trousers were evident and combined with dynamic prints. A large factor of Ize’s eponymous brand is filled with gender-less tailoring, but the detailed colorful weaving in the leather sandals and sling bags made for stand-out accessories. Coming off of a strong Milan Anyiel Majok opened the show, and Caren Jepkemei, Minnie Warren, Adit Priscilla, Ottawa Kwami, and Xu Meen, gave graceful free-flowing walks to showcase the artistry of the pieces styled by Ib Kamara.
