Kim Jones Joins the Jury Panel for LVMH Prize
Artistic director of Dior Men and creative director of Fendi Womenswear, Kim Jones joins the fold for LVMH’s annual Young Designer Prize and joins jurors Virgil Abloh, Jonathan Anderson, Maria Grazia Chiuri, Marc Jacobs, and Stella McCartney. The winner and runner-up will be picked September 7 at the Louis Vuitton Foundation in Paris from nine finalists Christopher John Rogers, KidSuper’s Colm Dillane, Conner Ives, Bianca Saunders, Charles de Vilmorin, Kika Vargas, Lukhanyo Mdingi, Nensi Dojaka, and Rui’s Rui Zhou.

Prada Partners with artist Theaster Gates for an Inclusive Initiative
The Prada Group is launching an experimental design lab on the Southside of Chicago with artist Theaster Gates. Dorchester Industries Experimental Design Lab, named after Gates Studio’s design and manufacturing branch, will serve as a platform for Black and brown artists for three years, investing in their development and exposing them to organizations interested in working with diverse talent. “There are people formally trained or who have had a successful career but that are not connected to the fashion world or the creative industry,” Gates mentioned. “I know that I have a tremendous amount of privilege, almost too much privilege, and the best thing I can do is to try and share this privilege with as many people as I can and share the rich relationships that I have with others.” WWD reports the project is not limited to fashion but extends to furniture, industrial and graphic design, and the arts while providing a platform for exhibitions, performances, and public dialogue. Amanda Gorman Partners With Estée Lauder As The Global Changemaker
Poet laureate Amanda Gorman is the latest IMG talent to join Estée Lauder. The company announced that the partnership was one of a kind and Gorman will take on the role of global changemaker. Part of this partnership, the Estée Lauder companies will contribute over $3 million to advocate for Writing Change, an initiative to advance literacy as a gateway to equality. Gorman said, “I’m never just lending my body or my face, they are getting my spirit, my breath, my brain.” [WWD]

Disney+ to Host Karl Lagerfeld short series
Disney+ expands its behemoth reach to the fashion community as it undertakes an ambitious short drama miniseries based on the late Karl Lagerfeld. The streaming network announced plans this week for a six-episode series called ‘Kaiser Karl,’ titled for the nickname famously given to Lagerfeld by W magazine founder, John Fairchild. Based on the 2020 biography by French journalist Raphaëlle Bacqué, the series will allegedly date back to 1972, when the German creative director first began his ascent to the top of the industry ladder after the death of Coco Chanel.

Kendall Jenner Is The New Creative Director of FWRD
Luxury e-commerce retailer FWRD shared that the 818 Tequila founder Kendall Jenner is now the creative director of the fashion company. Jenner said, “I grew up loving fashion and have been incredibly fortunate to work with some of the most brilliant people in this business.
