Pyer Moss Set To Debut During Haute Couture
Pyer Moss makes history as the first Black American designer to ever showcase a collection during Paris Haute Couture Week for the Autumn 21’ edition held from July 5th-8th. The Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture isn’t known for adding new designers to their roster, so this new addition is certainly one to watch out for. IMG Plans To Revitalize NYFW With Fashion Alliance
This past Wednesday, worldwide agency IMG announced their initiative to revive NYFW with the Fashion Alliance. The President of IMG, Leslie Russo, said they created the alliance, “formed with a simple, like-minded objective: to create a bedrock of designers committed to New York Fashion Week’s revitalization and celebrate the resilience of New York’s fashion and retail industry as we emerge post-pandemic.” Before the pandemic, talk of “NYFW Is Dead” had already started as many designers began to only showcase internationally. Another reason for IMG choosing to create this initiative is to refute this debate and create a support system so that American designers can remain local. [Fashionista]

Marie Claire US Sold by Hearst
After floundering in recent years, Marie Claire US has been sold by Hearst to a UK media company. The title was purchased by Future Media, which also owns Marie Claire UK—an edition of Marie Claire, which, under the guidance of Future Media, has seen a boost in audience numbers as well as digital and e-commerce success. Karen Elson Goes Rogue
After more than two decades of growing disillusionment with the agency system, Karen Elson has made the radical step of leaving IMG in order to represent herself. A number of factors and experiences led to the decision, which she insists is not a condemnation of any particular agency or agent but more to do with the industry as a whole, saying, “I’m really struggling within the infrastructure of model agencies right now. I don’t have bad blood towards them. It’s just very difficult for me to get the things I need from a model agency.” It will be interesting to see if other top models follow suit. [The Cut]
