Telfar’s Florentine Family Sits for Supper

Telfar Clemens and his eponymous line was a special guest at the biannual Pitti Uomo trade show last night and the underlying theme was a sense of community. Amongst the pomp and circumstance of Florence’s Palazzo Corsini, Telfar unveiled his penchant for blown-out basics by transforming his familiar chaps-like patterns in knitwear, faux leather and denim to have a more subversive tone. It was Clemens’ second season away from New York (he showed in Paris for the first time last year), yet the bourgeois setting did little to dim the city’s influence with a diverse cast, unisex offering, and textile pastiche. Models walked atop the dinner tables with returning faces and friends cast like Unia Pakhomova, Marie Lou Gomis, Boychild , and Ms. Carrie Stacks sauntering amongst the audience. And don’t forget the preservation of the raised interlocking logo bags made out of faux leather and amusingly nicknamed the “Bushwick Birkin”.
