Tiffany & Co. Responds to LVMH’s Billion Dollar Bid
Following the news of LVMH’s biggest ever acquisition proposal, a 14.5 billion dollar bid to purchase Tiffany and Co. at $120-per-share, it’s been reported that the jewelry giant has told LVMH they would need to raise their offer. The same report maintains that LVMH is still interested and considering a new, pricier deal, without providing further detail. [Reuters]

Christopher John Rogers Wins Big at CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund
The 16th annual CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund named designer Christopher John Rogers as the winner of the night’s top prize of $400,000. In addition the the money, the designer also receives business mentorship. The Brooklyn based, Baton Rouge born designer took home the prize on the heels of his buzzy Spring/Summer 2020 collection this past NYFW. You can learn more about him in Models.com’s interview here. Met Gala Chooses Time as Theme for 2020
The annual Met Gala, fashion’s biggest night held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, revealed its theme for 2020, which is “About Time: Fashion and Duration.” The theme, which follows the previous year’s “Camp” curation, was inspired by the Sally Potter film based off of Virginia Wolf’s time-travel novel “Orlando”. The film stars an androgynous Tilda Swinton who lives through several centuries. Curator Andrew Bolton will select 160 pieces in a disruptive, nonlinear historical timeline starting in 1870 to the present. [The Cut]

Valentino Does Haute Couture in Beijing
Pierpaolo Piccioli chose Bejing’s Summer Palace as the backdrop to show Valentino’s haute couture collection. Piccioli told Vogue the 49-piece show he presented was “a real Italian haute couture collection—not anything to do with China. It’s important to keep your identity,” adding, “especially when you bring your culture to another world and use it to evaluate the diversities.” Couture it was––clients and show-goers saw from Piccioli gowns that were glittery, elaborately ornamented with bows and romantically decadent, giving credence to the collection’s title “Valentino Daydream.” [Vogue]
