Thom Browne seasonally proves to be a flight of fancy and for Spring 2020 the American designer exaggerated hip panniers for a silhouette invoking the French Revolution. The surreal collection took seersucker college prep, mixed in American Nautica and floated garments away from the body as an antonym to skintight. The first four looks were set on teetering, dolphin contraptions that were an enigma to walk in with a childlike, pastel color palette (maybe that explains Maggie Maurer and her baby carriage) bringing familiarity to the uncanny. With a runway selection by Alexandra Sandberg, models Alek Wek, Tami Williams, Anna Cleveland, Jay Wright and Hyun Seo took on Marie Antoinette references with grace, aided with beauty looks by Eugene Souleiman and Mark Carrasquillo.
