Marine Serre Imagines the End of the World

Paris fashion week began with a rumble of thunder and Marine Serre saw fit to imagine a world marching ever-steadily toward aquatic environmental ruin for her Marée Noire collection for Spring 2020. Her logo downward crescent seemed much more Black Moon Clan this go around as an apocalyptic parade of all-black looks with rubberized soles stomped down the runway before superbly-tailored pieces in camouflage-print, neoprene, and crochet re-envisioned how we might interact with a more brutalized sun, sea, or air. Mixing with her trademark second-skin tops and snug leggings, Serre introduced a more evolved vision of the brand weaving in lace, terry cloth, and silk detailing with half of the collection up-cycled. Cast by William Lhoest, model legends like Cordula Reyer, Kim Peers, Amalia Vairelli, and a pregnant Adina Fohlin returned to the Marine Serre runway joining Elise Crombez and Hannelore Knuts who closed.
