Simon Porte, as he does, provided one of the most pleasurable, easy on the eyes shows of Spring 2020 with a co-ed Jacquemus collection. More so, if you were lucky enough to attend his lavender-laced showcase of sensibilities he called “Le Coup de Soleil” put on in a Provençal field which culminated with an after-show fête worthy of the FOMO acronym. It was his first marriage of men’s and women’s; it was the first time Mica Argañaraz, the show’s opener who led the succession down the pink pathway, has walked for the much-loved designer; and it was his brand’s birthday of 10 years. That is relatively young compared to the houses he is now competing with in terms of pull, but what an endlessly watchable and sometimes surprising journey it has been.
