Raf out at Calvin, Joe Casely-Hayford passes and more news you missed

Raf Simons out at Calvin Klein
After PVH chairman and CEO Emanuel Chirico described the Calvin Klein overhaul as a “fashion miss”, cult designer Raf Simons announced before the holidays he was parting ways with the American sportswear house. The Belgian designer whose contract was up for renewal this August, was reportedly at odds with the proposed new brand direction of reducing some of Simons’ responsibilities, with sources indicating he overspent and pushed too radical of a design aesthetic for commercial retailers. The brand will skip out on New York fashion week this February. [WWD]

Designer Joe Casely-Hayford Has Passed Away
It was with sad sentiment that the fashion world learned that British menswear designer Joe Casely-Hayford OBE passed away after a 3-year battle with cancer. After relaunching his eponymously named line a decade ago with his son, Charlie, the design duo only recently opened up their first boutique in London at the end of last year. WWD reports that the pioneering designer was one of the first to set up an early men’s fashion week decades ago and a trailblazer for black talent in the industry.

Miu Miu archive goes online, The Face archive goes outside
Bound to excite the aesthetes, Miu Miu’s revamped website opens the brand’s archives going back to its Spring 1993 collection. The stockpile of runway and campaigns past is part of the Miu Miu Club section which features new special content as well. If one archive is not enough, The Face archive exhibited outside in London’s Coal Drops Yard is on display only until January 31st. The special project in the King Cross shopping space features hundreds of the iconic magazine’s covers, which launched 38 years ago and ended in 2004––and the covered wall features covers from 1980-2001.
