Paris Fashion Week wraps up
Nine news filled days of fashion are over and if you’re like us, you need a breather. Before you go on that sabbatical, however, let’s unpack all that happened, shall we? After three long weeks of shows, there were no breaks for the fashion crowd to collect themselves as day 1 started with a dance show at Dior, a trip to the Italian Riviera with Jacquemus, and a nighttime rave at Gucci. Anthony Vaccarello made models walk on water at Saint Laurent and there were two debuts with Casey Cadwallader at Mugler and Hedi Slimane at Celine (more on that later). Off-White had a track meet, Rick Owens went apocalyptic, and Karl Lagerfeld brought sand to the beach at Chanel. The rest was a colorful blur that you’ll have to recap for yourself!

Hedi Slimane rebuts Celine criticism
Celine criticisms reached near-vitriolic levels across social media buoyed by reviews by Tim Blanks, Vanessa Friedman, Lou Stoppard and others pledging contempt for Hedi Slimane’s pertinacious ways, going as far as calling Hedi the most unfashionable thing in the world––“Trumpian”. On “5 Minutes de Mode by Loïc Prigent”, Slimane issued his reaction, which served as his rebuttal to many of the judgments, saying, “The spirit of the show was light and joyful, but lightness and insouciance are being called into question these days. I’ve already been through this at Saint Laurent,” said Slimane, adding, “You’re dealing with politics, conflicts of interest, cliques, a predictable attitude, but also staggering exaggerations of conservatism and puritanism.” Of him being called Trump: “The comparisons to Trump are opportunistic, rather bold and fairly comical, just because the young women in my show are liberated and carefree.”

Kate Moss’ daughter is the face of Marc Jacobs Beauty
16-year-old Lila Moss landed the Marc Jacobs Beauty campaign which was revealed on Instagram. “The” Marc Jacobs posted the news along with a lengthy caption detailing meeting Kate Moss’ daughter Lila in 2008 when she was just 6, reminiscing about meeting Kate for the first time at age 18 and becoming good friends, saying, “When Lila came to NYC to work with us in July to be the face of our latest beauty campaign it felt a bit like an intersection of my personal and professional life coming full circle,” naming the shoot’s team David Sims, Katie Grand, Guido Palau, Diane Kendal and Kate Moss’ agency, KMA.

When I met @lilamoss for the first time in 2008, I was on a holiday in Ibiza and went to Formentera for the day to visit with her mom, Kate Moss, and other friends and family. At just 6 years old, Lila’s strong character, demeanor and great beauty was already very apparent. The next time I saw Lila was in August of 2011 at Kate’s wedding, her character was even more dynamic and her beauty even greater. This past July is the last time I saw Lila when Kate brought her to the set of our @marcbeauty campaign shoot with @davidsimsofficial. It was a bit surreal to have Kate in the studio with Lila as it brought back memories of the first time I met Kate when she was 18 years old and cast to walk for the Perry Ellis’ Spring/Summer 1993 Grunge Collection. Kate and I became very close after the Grunge Collection and remain lifelong friends (much of which is very well documented!). When Lila came to NYC to work with us in July to be the face of our latest beauty campaign it felt a bit like an intersection of my personal and professional life coming full circle as we gathered in the studio with @davidsimsofficial, @kegrand, @guidopalau, @dianekendal and @katemossagency. It is with great pride and a full heart that I share this (first) image from our shoot with the incredible @lilamoss in her first ever campaign for @marcbeauty. Lila’s beauty, composure, patience and kindness made this project even more special than I could have imagined. With each look we photographed, she got into each character effortlessly and gracefully. Thank you, Lila, for being a part of this extremely special project and thank you, @katemossagency and @jeffersonhack for allowing us the privilege to work with your beautiful daughter. Love, Marc
