I was born in northern Brazil, but I moved to Santa Catarina in southern Brazil when I was 9 years old and grew up there. I was raised by strong and independent women who built their lives through hard work and resilience. They taught me to be independent and to believe in myself.

— What’s an essential part of your daily routine?
Spending time with myself and doing things I enjoy is essential. I love running, painting, drawing, taking care of myself, doing skincare, and cooking healthy meals.

Where:
Model Booker (Heilbronn – mother agency), THEWAVES Models (Paris), Infinity Management (Milan), Duo Model Mgmt (London)

— How did you become a model?
It happened pretty naturally. I’ve always been interested in photography and creative projects, and over time, people started encouraging me to model. I liked the idea of becoming part of the creative process from the other side of the camera, so I decided to give it a try.

— Can you tell us about your happiest childhood memory?
My friends and I figured out how to climb onto the roof of our school to collect all the balls that landed there. Suddenly, I had more footballs and basketballs than I knew what to do with. Looking back, I’m still surprised my mom never questioned where they all came from. It was such a simple thing, but it made me incredibly happy at the time and still makes me smile thinking about it.

— An issue or cause you are passionate about:
I believe everyone can make a positive impact on the environment, even through small everyday actions. Spending a lot of time outdoors has made me appreciate nature, and I think protecting it starts with the little choices we make every day.

— One thing people may be surprised to find out about you:
I wasn’t comfortable with my name, and people not pronouncing it well didn’t help, so I renamed myself Sophie because I love philosophy. People called me Sophie from 1996 until 2013, so for a very long time, until I reclaimed my name. Ferrouz means ‘turquoise’, and it’s the name of a legendary Lebanese singer.

— An issue or cause you are passionate about:
I’m passionate about sustainable fashion. When the Rana Plaza building collapsed, it opened my eyes about the impact of fashion and the way it’s done. I mostly buy vintage and/or fashion made from small brands that use eco-friendly materials. Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.

— Share a bit about your background and upbringing.
Born and raised in France by Algerian parents. I was lucky to have my 4 grandparents around and a very big family. I have 3 sisters and 1 brother. I’m the middle one. I did rhythmic gymnastics and ballet, and I also played the cello for a little bit. Everybody went to music school. And when I turned 18, I moved to Germany because I was ready to be independent, and I didn’t want to go to university.
