— How did you become a model?
In April, I was going out with my family in Tokyo (it was just a holiday trip to Japan), and a scout came up to me on the street. She said that I had an interesting face and asked if I was interested in modeling. Then she gave me her business card. The next week, she brought me to the agency, and we did around three test shoots for my portfolio. At the end of May, I came to Japan again and now stay here and work as a model.

— Tell us about your hometown.
I am from Latvia, Riga. I love that there are a lot of forests, and they are very peaceful and quiet. The thing I don’t like is that you can’t express yourself that much out there.

— What are three interesting facts about you?
– I am really into fashion, and I love everything that connects to it.
– Music is very important to me in everyday life; I listen to music whenever possible. I like artists like Playboi Carti, Ken Carson, and Travis Scott.
– I love cooking; I hope it’s not because my parents are too lazy to do it, but I hope that at least sometimes I’m not bad at it.

— What’s a favorite book/movie/TV show, and why do you love it?
I’m not a fanatic of anything, I like many things but there’s one book that I always recommend, and that’s ‘Ojos azules en Kabul’ by Anabel Botella. I didn’t quite like the ending, but it’s the book that has made me cry the most.

I love having breakfast. If I don’t have breakfast, I’ll be irritable for no reason all day.

— If you were to choose a song that symbolizes this current phase of your life, what would it be and why?
Until today, I have always watched all of the Star Wars movies with my dad. The intro music is really good! I hope the Force will be with us.

— One thing people may be surprised to find out about you:
Apart from being a model, I am a future lawyer who is a staunch advocate of critical thinking as the tool to achieve structural change in our dormant society. Moreover, I am committed to social justice and frequently like to strike up discussions with random people regarding their views on currently pressing issues—in order to average all their opinions and complement my own personal take on a certain matter with them! I then tend to disseminate the deliverable through various communication channels to the sole effect of raising awareness on issues that ordinary people often don’t care about… but, once they get familiar with their significance, they become much more willing to thoughtfully take them on board. Both individual and social change begin with awakened awareness!

— What are 3 interesting facts about you?
1. I live a life that revolves around four cardinal virtues: courage, wisdom, self-discipline, and justice.
2. I focus on what I can change.
3. I take responsibility for all my actions.

— What’s an essential part of your daily routine?
Freezing cold showers. Ice-cold water acts as a little seed of resilience I sow every morning in my brain and, hence, allows me to start off my day with a gush of positive energy. Ultimately, when you take on voluntary discomfort and accept that pain is inevitable, but suffering is optional, you surely begin to be the master of your life. And being the master of my life is what I strive for! A happy and smoothly flowing existence is the logical consequence of the latter—which obviously includes modeling with more passion and motivation!

— Can you tell us about your happiest childhood memory?
Most of my childhood was spent on campus, where there was no mobile phone, and friendship was simpler and more pure. My happiest thing was playing badminton with my friends after class, going to the grocery store, and chatting about gossip.

— What’s an essential part of your daily routine?
An essential part of my daily routine is doing sports because the modeling industry has specific body and posture requirements, and regular exercise helps to maintain and achieve the ideal body.

— What’s a favorite book/movie/TV show, and why do you love it?
My favorite movie is “Notting Hill” because it offers profound insights into the roles of women, love, and self-worth.
