Who:
Anna Van der Werf (@_annadorothea) — 176 cm / 5’9.5″ — Dutch from Leiden, the Netherlands — born October 15th — she/her.

Where:
Mouna Models (Amsterdam – mother agency)

— Who is someone you admire and why?
I admire my friends who have their own brand, Schepers Bosman! I interned with them when I was 17 and kind of kept hanging out with them afterward. I really admire them because they fully run their business based on their ethics, with a sustainable approach. They do everything themselves, from design to production of garments, all from their own atelier/factory here in The Netherlands.

— How did you become a model?
When I was 16, I got scouted a few times but never really went through with it. I went to study for a bachelor’s degree in fashion design at art school. Last June, I graduated, and I decided I wanted to see what would happen if I pursued modeling professionally. I approached Felicia van Ham, who is a model scout I had met during my studies, and she introduced me to Mouna Models, where I signed last September!

— An issue or cause you are passionate about:
I want to contribute to helping sustainability become the norm within the fashion industry. The fashion industry is one of the biggest polluters out there, and while I’m very passionate about creating fashion, it shouldn’t be at the expense of the planet.

1. In general, spending time in nature is my biggest passion. I like discovering new places; that’s the reason why I travel a lot, sometimes even on my own.

I always heard from people that I should be a model, but I disagreed and said I would be a dancer. As time went by, I realized that being a dancer was not my dream, and I decided to give modeling a chance. My mother was my advisor when I made this decision; she ran to all the stores in the city, showing my photos and offering my services. One of them was interested and asked me to take photos, and that’s where it all started.

Definitely Beyoncé. She built a solid career since she was a teenager and became the first black woman to headline Coachella.
