— One thing people may be surprised to find out about you:
I am a huge Dungeons & Dragons nerd! Playing D&D is the highlight of my week.

— Who is someone you admire and why?
I really look up to and am inspired by the artists Claude Cahun and Marcel Moore. They were a queer couple who made ground-breaking art about gender nonconformity while fighting against antisemitism and homophobia in Nazi-occupied Paris. Cahun and Moore were the first queer artists I encountered of a generation long before mine. Their work showed me that queer joy is always possible and worth fighting for.


— How did you become a model?
I started modeling in high school when I was scouted at a Beyonce concert. I was incredibly shy at the time so didn’t really know how to react. The years I’ve spent modeling since then have really helped me with my social anxiety and self-confidence.

— What are three interesting facts about you?
1. I love music in every kind of way; to listen to it, to play instruments or producing something. I just LOVE IT so much!!
2. When I was younger I was extremely camera shy, when someone would taken a picture of me, I would never want to be on it. As a matter of fact, I would even always hide myself! Now it is the complete opposite! :)
3. I’m very easygoing. I’m up to joining any type of activity will join anything don’t care about the big things necessarily, you can make me happy with the little things and bring me joy :)

— How did you become a model?
I got scouted walking into my first date with someone. We had agreed to meet at her house and than I got scouted right in front of her door. Super coincidental! I immediately had a story to come in with, so the ice was broken right away!

— One thing people may be surprised to find out about you:
People are always so surprised when i say that i play the drums. They’re not expecting that a girl like me can plays the drums.

— Your most embarrassing moment:
It happened last year during my marketing internship at Siemens. One morning I was late for work, and in the dark, I didn’t see what T-shirt I’m putting on. Later on that day, we had a team meeting and in the conference room was really warm. It was my turn to present, so I took off my hoodie as I was standing up. Most of my younger colleagues started laughing and then I realised I’m wearing a ‘FUCK OFF’ t-shirt. It was my first meeting with the whole team including the managers. Safe to say my journey in Siemens didn’t last long hahaha.

— An issue or cause you are passionate about:
Growing up in the post-war era of Yugoslavia, I was witnessing the sadness and rage of people in pain, who talked the same language but believed in a different God. I could never understand that religion can turn a man against his neighbour and that we humans in general are so easily divided when we are so much alike. That made me seek ways to bring people together, cherish our similarities and learn about our differences. To pursue this cause I want to start a media platform to promote social activism through art, culture and community bonding.

— What are three interesting facts about you?
1. I’m living with a kid’s glasses on my eyes. I approach life with the same enthusiasm and restless energy. I get bored very easily, so I always have to keep myself occupied. Whether by enjoying some of my existing hobbies or trying something new, I always try to make the most out of my time. I see things purely and in spite of all non-innocent people and situations around me.
2. I love physical activities, playing basketball and other sports and spending time in nature. Connecting with nature gives me this calmness to explore creativity and the other side of me, where I found that writing and developing ideas is soothing my soul and pushing me forward intellectually and spiritually.
3. I like plants and cooking. I’m intrigued by alternative medicine, and I believe that food is 90% of our health, so I’m trying to learn more every day about the power of plants. I enjoy preparing great food for my friends and family, so if you are lucky you might get a treat :)

I have a cat we treat her like our sister.

— What’s your most prized possession and why?
My notes, I have a habit of diligently noting down important personal information, study-related info, plans, to-do list and even my bucket list. This helps me keep track of everything efficiently

— Who is your favorite entertainer?
Abhishek Upmanyu. He is a stand-up comedian.

Who:
Tari Atika (@raniantari) — 176 cm / 5’9.5″ — Indonesian from Jakarta, Indonesia — born July 1st — she/her.

— What weird or useless talent do you have?
I can fold my tongue in to a clover leaf shape. It’s actually a pretty cool party trick, it always amazes the crowd.


— What’s a story your family/friends like to tell about you?
My mom will always tell her friends that I was an extremely active kid. As a kid I love to climb on trees, go fishing with my dad, even riding on a sheeps back. Back then my dad made me a fishing pond because I love fishing, I would ask him to go fishing every weekend.


— Who is your favorite entertainer?
I love Jennifer Garner. She’s a very good actress, and she has a exceptionally lovely house with a beautiful kitchen. I love her pretend cooking shows its very amusing and turns out she’s a great cook.

— Who is someone you admire and why?
Someone that I admire is Son Heung-min the professional soccer player. I grew up watching him and I think it is so amazing that he has risen to one of the best players in the world. I think he is a great representation of Asian athletes and is someone that I looked up too because he showed me that Asian athletes can achieve amazing things.

— How did you become a model?
I became a model because I was shopping with one of my friends once and he kept telling me how I looked like the models in the store. I then applied to 15 different agencies online and ended up signing!

— One thing people may be surprised to find out about you:
Many people are uncertain of my ethnic background and are very surprised when they learn I am half Filipino.
