Alvaro

Who:
Alvaro (@alvarogotoo) — 185 cm / 6’1″ — Peruvian from Lima, Peru — born February 19th — he/him.

Where:
Modelwerk (Hamburg – mother agency)

— How did you become a model?
I wanted to visit a situationship in Berlin, and I needed an excuse. I googled “Top Modelling Agencies” and spammed some with pictures I forced my friend to take of me. A week later, I was in Berlin getting ready for interviews. Though I must say, I have always wanted to try modeling, so I’m grateful to them.

— What are three interesting facts about you?
I want to be a forensic anthropologist and investigate human remains; I write songs with my little guitar, and I was a very ugly child.

— An issue or cause you are passionate about:
I am very passionate about awareness of mental health in childhood. I’m very interested in neurodivergence in the educational system, for example, difficulties for children with ADHD or Autism. Especially in the case of girls because of how unresearched and misdiagnosed it is compared to their male counterparts because of socialization. When I left high school, one of my ideas was to become either a teacher or therapist for children with Adhd.

— What are three interesting facts about you?
1. I was born on Independence Day in Indonesia – I’ve never really thought of it as that much interesting, but I get a lot of people telling me that I could get a bike if I ever had the chance to meet the president on my birthday.
2. I like to run. Since I started a healthy lifestyle, I have really enjoyed going for long runs, especially in new cities or places. I can explore on my own, and I sometimes find hidden places that I would never otherwise see if I was using a car or motorcycle. I also would like to participate in a marathon someday all over the world.
3. I have a degree in Fashion Design. From a young age, my grandmother taught me to sew, and I’ve always loved to create things from different kinds of mediums, so I decided to major in fashion design at college.

— The most interesting thing about your family:
I’m a mixed kid. My mom is a mix of Sundanese and Javanese, and my dad is from New Zealand. I was born in Australia, but I’ve lived my whole life in Bali. I like to think of myself as a mix of different cultures and blood because I’ve met a lot of different types of people, and I’ve learned a lot of different cultures and languages.

— What are you super interested in that most people have never heard of?
It might be something people may already know, but I’m super interested in van life and tiny homes. One of my dreams is to explore the world using a van or have a tiny home made out of refurbished containers.

JTmanagement (Caracas – mother agency), Independent Model Management (Milan)

— Who is your favorite entertainer?
I love Dua Lipa. What I like most about her is her story, all that she fought for and worked to achieve her dreams and goals. I identify with that a lot because it has not been an easy task for me, but my dedication has begun to bear fruit.

— One thing people may be surprised to find out about you:
I eat a lot. People are always amazed at how much I can eat at any time of the day and how skinny I am. They always ask me how I do it.

— One thing you never want to do again:
Being close to a bull when it is upset. When I was little, my uncle used to take the cattle out, and I rarely accompanied him, but one of the times I did, there was an upset bull, and it chased all over the field until I could get to safety.

— Who is your favorite entertainer?
My favorite entertainer is the rapper Kendrick Lamar, whose songs always tell important stories and have a deeper social meaning. I also love the American comedian Larry David, whose show “Curb Your Enthusiasm” never fails to make me laugh.

— The most interesting thing about your family:
I come from a long line of small shop owners in Ireland, going back four generations.

— Who is someone you admire and why?
LeBron James started his NBA career at a very early age. He was roundly criticized at the outset of his career for choosing to leave his hometown club due to a lack of support. However, after he had achieved success with his new team, he ultimately decided to come back to his boyhood club and eventually went on to win one of the most impressive championships in NBA history. His story inspires me to better myself.

Lola

Who:
Lola Ryrko (@lolaryrko.ms) — 178 cm / 5’10” — British from Brighton, UK — born September 12th — she/her.

Where:

— Who is someone you admire and why?
It’s a difficult question because I admire a lot of people, but I think one of them would be Billie Holiday because of her powerful lyrics and voice. She also had courageous views on inequality and justice.

— How did you become a model?
I started modelling in November; before that, my now mother agent stopped me on the streets of Kilburn and asked if I model. I was shocked because I didn’t look very glamorous, haha. After that, we talked, and now I’m here! I’m so happy I took the opportunity.

— What are three interesting facts about you?
1. I lived in Poland for almost half my life. It’s really fascinating growing up and experiencing the different dynamics of each place.
2. I really enjoy being creative, especially through music and art. I find it very therapeutic.
3. Another random fact is that I used to be really, really shy. It’s really crazy looking back from then to now. I would have never thought I could or would be where I am today. I’m really proud of myself for accepting me for who I am. I hope it inspires people to do what they want to do and not let self-judgment get in the way of what they can achieve.

— One thing people may be surprised to find out about you:
I won the first prize in “Jugend Musiziert” for playing the flute at age 13.

— Your most embarrassing moment:
Spring ‘22 at the desk with all the looks for the show, I mistook Tyrone Susman for Rick Owens. I only saw someone’s silhouette from the corner of my eye. We were admiring the latest designs from that collection together till I turned around and shouted lively: “Is this Rick?!” it wasn’t. Later they both stood right next to me. I pretended to have the most awkward German humor. Rick, I’m sorry!!

— Who is your favorite entertainer?
My favorite entertainer is Dieter Laser. He’s no longer with us but will always stay on my mind. His passion for acting was pure as his heart. He articulated himself drastically and was always unadulterated. Dieter seemed to be fearlessly he himself, and that is exactly what I like about him.
