3. I play piano.

— Who is your favorite entertainer?
I like Jessica Barden so much. She is a British actress. I saw her in ‘The End of the Fucking World’ (my favorite series); she acts too well!

— How did you become a model?
I was doing my shopping in a mall when my (now) agent found me. She offered to set an appointment, and we took a few pictures!

CJ

Who:
CJ Prysock (@cjprysock) — 186 cm / 6’1″ — American from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA — born October 2nd — he/him.

Where:
Range Models (Philadelphia – mother agency), Two Management (Barcelona), Two Management (Los Angeles), Two Management (Copenhagen)

— The most interesting thing about your family:
One thing about my family I never knew much of, especially when I was younger, was the music history behind our last name Prysock. I remember my uncle asking me if I knew, but I never did. The only time I realized was when I would have class, and a teacher would do roll-call, landing on my name and saying it aloud, then asking me if I was related to Red and/or Arthur Prysock, my grandfather and uncle. I would say yes, only for them to respond energetically about how great their music was back in the day and how well known they were and surprisingly still are to some. The other students would joke about me being “famous,” but I found it more annoying because it wasn’t a joke to me. I then began researching and found out their discography was extensive. My grandfather Red Prysock was a saxophonist with a hit song called “Hand Clappin,” which just makes you want to get up and start dancing. He was also a part of Tiny Bradshaw’s band in the 50s. My uncle Arthur Prysock was a vocalist with such a calming voice that I tend to go to sleep to it, haha.

— Who is someone you admire and why?
As generic as this answer may be to some, but I admire my momma. For starters, she has three sons as a single mother, which speaks for itself. This woman just beat breast cancer and still wakes up at 4 am for work, you know, after recovering for months. She has literally sacrificed her life for my brothers and me, giving us more than needed. I could say I admire someone I don’t know and have never met, but you only are given one mother, and mine has never let me down. If it weren’t for my mom I probably wouldn’t be here. I admire my mom and honestly owe her a whole new life.

— What’s a story your family/friends like to tell about you?
I honestly don’t know if this counts as a story, but they love to point out my hustle and work ethic. My mom tells friends that if I want something and have my eyes set on it, I get it. She would joke about how I got into the high school I wanted to attend without her help and how she found out about it after I had already been accepted. Friends usually say my hustle is unmatched compared to some people today. One night at 8 pm, I parted ways from a job of 3 years and found a new one 60 minutes later, making me very late for a date, hahaha. I would have never imagined myself being a model, but there are definitely things I want to achieve, and best believe they will happen one way or another. You don’t know my body, but you will.

Where:
Heffner Management (Seattle – mother agency), Wilhelmina New York

— The most interesting thing about your family:
My adoptive dad is 81, which makes him old enough to be my great-grandfather!

— An issue or cause you are passionate about:
I’m passionate about speaking out on issues such as the overturning of Roe v Wade, an issue that will affect marginalized groups in our communities most when things such as abortion is illegal. I have been protesting weekly and working with multiple organizations on fundraising for abortion funds for multiple non-profits. Coming from a birth family that struggled with addiction and homelessness, outreach work is very important to me. I currently volunteer with a nonprofit called Feed the Streets LA. Their goal is to provide hot meals, weather-appropriate clothes, hygiene products, first aid, and Narcan to these underserved communities. Currently, they provide coffee/donuts every Tuesday & Thursday and outreach events every Sunday.

Where:
Scout Model Agency (Los Angeles – mother agency), Scout Model Agency (San Francisco – mother agency)

— What’s your most prized possession and why?
I have two fluffy bunnies named Crouton and Poppy, who are 8 and 5 years old, and they are the reason why I call myself the Bunny Whisperer. My relationship with them is parallel to Daenerys and her dragons from Game of Thrones.

— Your most embarrassing moment:
My third test shoot took place outdoors with a lot of water and rocks. The photographer wanted me on a specific rock for a shoot, and as I tried to make my way to the rock, I jumped and slipped in front of the other models and fell really hard on my knees. Now both my knees are still extremely bruised.

— What are three interesting facts about you?
1. I was born in Dubai and lived in Hong Kong for four years. I visit Hong Kong really often to see relatives and because I absolutely love the food and environment (p.s. I speak Mandarin and can understand some Cantonese).
2. Starting at seven years old, I’ve been dancing ballet and playing the Chinese zither in my Chinese music ensemble. My favorite place to perform with my ensemble is at the farmer’s market because people who are strolling by are always really appreciative of our traditional music.
3. I really love drawing characters with creepy facial expressions. I’m inspired by Stephen King’s original character Pennywise and Tim Burton’s animation in Corpse Bride.

2. I have set a challenge to read 52 books in a year. I am almost on schedule, but finding time to read is a challenge on its own :)
3. I’m studying for a bachelor’s degree in Psychology & Technology, which means I can talk with fridges about their feelings.

— The most interesting thing about your family:
My grandfather was knighted by the King [of The Netherlands] for being a helper and volunteer in the village he lived in.

— How did you become a model?
I was giving out beer at a hardcore festival for a little job I had at that time. A woman came up to me, smiled, said I had a cute face, and wondered how tall I was. After a quick, fun chat, she told me that her husband had a modeling agency and asked if I was interested in going to Amsterdam to talk to her husband, a.k.a. my future manager. After that conversation, life went like flash, and I still think it is funny how my life changed like that by tapping a couple of beers at a festival.
