— Who is your favourite entertainer?
My favourite entertainer is Till Lindemann, coz he always makes cool shows and he has his own style. He is an extraordinary person, really creative and determined. I love Rammstein.

— How did you become a model?
I decided to become a model when I was a kid because I loved watching films with Dolph Lundgren. He started his career by modeling and I decided to follow the same path. My brother always said that I would be a good model. Later in Moscow when I did my first fashion show ever (it was for Dolce & Gabbana), I realized that this is the place where I want to belong.

— What are three interesting facts about you?
I’m a professional swimmer. I am a master of sports in swimming. I used to play basketball and I’m good at drawing.

— What are you super interested in that most people have never heard of?
A topic that I am really interested in is social distinctions. Currently, I am reading a book in which teenagers from the 80s are talking about their miserable childhood and how they survived in these terrible circumstances. I also watch documentaries about this topic and it is interesting how different society treats people with different social backgrounds.

— What are three interesting facts about you?
1. I’ve played handball for almost 10 years.
2. I am terrified of slugs/snails although I know they do absolutely nothing.
3. I absolutely love watching trash-tv. Most important rule while watching: no questions!

— How did you become a model?
When I was 12, my mother agent Ruhama scouted me on the streets. But I didn’t start modeling at this age. One year later, Ruhama scouted me again at a mall and this coincidence lead me to start modeling.

— One thing people may be surprised to find out about you:
To be honest, I’m kind of a big nerd. I love playing video games and this probably stemmed when I had my PlayStation 2; never stopped playing since I was about 5.

— Your most embarrassing moment:
100% when I was doing county athletics representing my school and I dropped the baton in a relay race. We were going to win as well :(

— How did you become a model?
I was about 16/17 and I walked past my local McDonald’s in my town, turns out at the time a mutual friend (who is a model) was sitting facing the window as I walked past. A week later he DMed me and asked if I ever considered modeling; we met up in the same McDonald’s a day or two later and he told me the procedures to get signed. So I applied to a couple of agencies online and then, boom! Your boy is somehow a model.

Where:

— The most interesting thing about your family:
I owe my racially ambiguous looks to my parents! My mother was born in the Philippines but raised in Little Italy, Chicago. My dad’s side of the family is Indian Parsi, the same as one of my favorite musicians, Freddie Mercury. Though I’ve been going by the name “Skye Daru” for the past several years, our full family surname is Darukhanavala, which translates to “king of liquor” haha!

— What are three interesting facts about you?
1. I’ve given a TED Talk. It’s about my experience having a Thoracic Spinal Fusion surgery after failed Scoliosis treatment at 16. The procedure increased my height from 5’10” to 5’11.5” so you can say it definitely helped me quite literally with my runway posture!
2. I have been playing piano and singing for 15+ years! I began professionally working as a recording artist at age 13.
3. My personality is rather introverted & reserved but I love public speaking. I host a podcast called “Still Loading…” with my best friend from college. We wanted to bring light to this idea of emerging adulthood, a feeling of not quite being a full adult yet but no longer feeling like a child either.

— One thing people may be surprised to find out about you:
Outside of modeing, I actually work a full-time corporate job as a Data Scientist at a Fortune 100 consulting firm. My day-to-day involves a lot of analytics, developing data visualizations, and building UI tools for clients. I graduated during the pandemic with a degree in Computer Science on a Pre-Medical track and was thrown into remote work-life a year ago. This pandemic has ironically allowed me (and many others) the flexibility to travel and pursue multiple paths. Nerd by day, model by night, I guess?

1. When I was 16 I started attending Olympic College full time through the Running Start program. I’m currently attending my third year and plan to graduate with my Mechanical Pre-Engineering, Associate’s of Science degree shortly after turning 19.
2. For the last year, my father and I have built a tiny home, located on my parent’s property, that I’m now living in. I designed the interior myself and salvaged a substantial amount of the building material.
3. My hobbies include playing guitar and rock climbing. I’ve been playing guitar for several years now, but have only recently started climbing.

— What are you super interested in that most people have never heard of?
An agricultural maintenance system called “Holistic Management”. This concept was constructed by a Zimbabwean Ecologist named Allen Savory and focuses on trying to reverse desertification that occurs in grasslands. “Holistic Management” uses grazing livestock to maintain, and increase, the health of soil, which in turn produces more nutritious plants, effectively and efficiently.

— An issue or cause you are passionate about:
The fact that most people have nearly no meaningful human connections. Growing up with my many cousins and other family members, I can undoubtedly say that they have been the most fundamental factor in my development as a social creature. My family is the heart of my joy and meaning, and it genuinely saddens me to understand that this is a reality that the majority of people don’t understand. Everyone needs a family. Everyone deserves to belong to a group that allows you to truly express yourself without the fear of judgment.

I am interested in Tachi, a type of Japanese sword.
