— How and when did you become a model?
It’s a weird story. I had just had been at a sleepover with my little sister over at our mate’s – I was 12-13yrs old at the time.  Instead of heading straight home, we made a stop to see our mate’s aunt. Turns out this lady had started a program in her neighborhood where she would teach kids how to walk (runway) and behave like a ‘model’ – think of it as a youth empowerment/outreach program, as it was a bit of a rough area. Essentially she was taking kids off the street and showing them there’s more to life than falling into bad habits, doing things you really probably shouldn’t be doing as kids. I was terrified to participate and at first refused to because I was a super shy kid but this aunt was tough as nails and she forced me to walk. So I did. This happened every Saturday for 2yrs. Thereafter I signed with an agency and it’s been a weird but thrilling journey since.

— The most interesting thing about your family?
My maternal family is from a really sleepy town in the countryside but it has its gems. For example, it has a hiking trail and holiday destination up in the mountains that boasts 22 different waterfalls. It also has one of at least five known rock paintings that depict [the Dutch settler’s] ships in the country left by the San societies that date back to the 18th century–which I think is really cool. My ancestors speaking to us through paintings.

— What are three interesting facts about you?
1. My love for rice is unmatched; deep/fried rice, plain basmati rice (but done correctly), sticky rice, etc… I have yet to try rice pudding though.
2. I love history. I could watch documentaries all day but painting, sketching, styling and art directing… anything in the creative sphere grabs my attention.
3. I have no tattoos but a good number of scars—-nature’s tattoos!

Joaquin Phoenix. Obviously, he is a very good actor, but I like his personality and humility.

— One thing people may be surprised to find out about you:
I am a very determined person. I see myself as a young woman with firm goals and a lot of strength to pursue everything I want in life. I like to set all my ambitions and I don’t rest until everything is done! That way, I am always trying to become a better professional and I am happy that I have what it needs to try a career as a model, which is basically, in my opinion, the strength of will.

— How did you become a model?
Actually, it wasn’t something that I have always wanted, I just decided to embrace the opportunity. In 2016, I was at the mall with my family and a lady stopped me to talk about doing some photos for her brand kickoff. To be honest, I froze and my mom had to talk with her, but I was also very excited to do the photos so we said yes! Then at the photoshoot, the photographer kept saying I was doing great, especially for my age since I was only 13. He also advised me to search for agencies in São Paulo, so I could develop more and start a career! Therefore I did some interviews and I signed with my current agency, Way Model.

— An issue or cause you are passionate about:
I have always been very passionate about the environment and this enthusiasm became stronger when I started to study at school how nature is being exploited and destroyed by us, humans. This cause is definitely something that I will support for the rest of my life since by damaging the Earth we are actually tearing down our only home!

Eat oysters. My parents made me try one last year, and I’m still thinking about the perfect payback! Although I really enjoy cooking and trying new foods, that was really not a pleasant experience.

— What’s a story your family/friends like to tell about you?
Instead of a typical weekend treat, like candy or potato chips, my dad brought me one large crayfish every Friday when I was a little child. That was actually my favorite part of the week.

2. Two of my great hobbies in life have been horseback riding and track and field, where I used to compete in sprint.
3. I love the ocean. The feeling of the wind blowing through your hair and the smell of salt is unbeatable.

— What are you super interested in that most people have never heard of?
Tardigrade. It is an animal with 8 legs of about 1 millimeter. Capable of withstanding extreme environments, it survives from -273°C, or absolute zero, up to 340°C. It is 11,000 times more resistant than humans to X-rays and withstands pressures 4 times greater than that found in the depths of the ocean. It also survives dehydration, lack of oxygen, toxic products and absolute alcohol. He can live on the moon and resist in space vacuum. Now you know.
