— Share a bit about your background and upbringing.
For some time, I didn’t know the entirety of my background until I went on a journey of self-discovery and researching where I am from. This was important to me; to better know my place in the world, I had to know my origin; upon researching extensively, I found that I was only half Nigerian; the other half was of a tribe called Bantu inhabiting the southeastern region of the African continent. My family specifically found themselves in South Asia through the Ottoman slave trade, crossing the Indian Ocean. My family had found its way back to Africa and settled on the border of Nigeria and the Benin Republic. This journey I have set out on is ongoing as I delve into my past whilst carving myself a hopefully brighter future.

— What’s an essential part of your daily routine?
It has to be waking up early. The age-old adage that the early bird gets the worm resonates deeply with me. I try to wake up at 6:00 in the colder months and 5:00 in the warmer months. I would start my day by reading, listening to a podcast, or drawing.

— Tell us about your hometown.
My hometown is Chicago, Illinois. The city is world-famous as a cultural hub. It is the area that birthed the house music genre, and many influential musicians have lived, worked, and been laid to rest there. It is also home to the Art Institute of Chicago. Although these are all wonderful, the outskirts have some of the highest murder rates in the USA.
