— An issue or cause you are passionate about:

— What is something you wish you knew more about?
I really want to learn how to make patterns and sew. I hope to have my own clothing brand one day. And I wish my English was better…

— How and when did you become a model?
Last year I met a model scout at the bus station in my hometown. She gave me her business card and asked if I was a model. First I found it amusing because I never thought about me as a model – my life is pretty much about sports. But then my Mum convinced me to give it a try and the next day I gave a call to that model scout who immediately invited me for a modeling competition casting.

— The best and worst aspects of your personality:
I’m determined and I never give up, even when the situation seems hopeless – that’s something I’ve been taught by playing collective sports for so many years. And the worst aspect of my personality? I tend to be moody quite often. It’s not hard to tell from my expression if I had a good day or not.

— Who is your favourite entertainer?
My favourite entertainer is Meryl Streep. I like her because as well as being an extremely talented and dynamic actor, she is also very humble and doesn’t take herself too seriously.

— An issue or cause you are passionate about:
An issue I’m passionate about is positive representation in fashion and entertainment. I think it’s important that everyone, especially young people, feels seen and celebrated. I think the industry needs to abandon traditional standards of beauty for it to accurately reflect the world we live in.

— Something you are self-conscious about:
I’m self-conscious about how I’m perceived by others and what people think of me. I always hope I come off genuine, present and kind.

— One thing people may be surprised to know about you?
I was born and raised in the middle of nowhere on a mountain in Minas Gerais, Brazil until the age of 7. It was pretty crazy! I would have to walk from my house through a shallow part of a river (until my uncles finally built a bridge) just to get to the closest road. All the kids from around my area would meet and wait for a tiny old Volkswagen Beetle to take us down to where it was safe enough for the school bus to collect us and take us to the nearest town so we could get to school. Sometimes my flashlight would run out of battery and, as there were no shops anywhere near, I would have to make a hole in an old tin can and put a candle through it so it would be brighter. I would take this route every morning with my German Shepherd and just hope that we wouldn’t run into any jaguars or wild boars.

— What’s something you wish you knew more about?
SPACE!! For sure! It keeps me up at night knowing that I’m probably not going to live long enough to find out what exactly there is out there. Aliens? Other planets that can sustain human life? Does the universe go on forever? Guess I’ll never know.

— Who is someone you admire and why?
My mum, she’s lived a really amazing life and has always had astonishing stories to tell about her adventures and lessons he has learned along the way.
