Exclusive for Saint Laurent S/S 18 Show.
Maria Miguel was born in the countryside in Braga, Portugal and holds dual citizenship that grants her Portuguese and Angolan nationality.
A complete tomboy from a young age, Maria differed from other girls in her town, choosing soccer balls over dolls.
She moved to the Luanda, the capital city of Angola at the age of seven, where she lived until she was 13. She then lived in London for one year, before returning home to Portugal and settling in the port city of Porto.
Often stopped on the street, but for a while not giving it much thought or importance, an auntie finally brought Maria to L’Agence leading her to do a couple of jobs in Portugal, and a couple of months later to signing with Next. It was shortly after that she was called into Paris to cast for YSL, and found out she would represent the brand exclusively. In September 2018 Maria opened and closed the Spring/Summer 2018 YSL collection show in Paris.
Maria is currently studying at CLIP, an international school in Porto, with goals of pursuing a career in business and economics. Studying at international schools since the age of three, English comes to Maria as naturally as her mother tongue of Portuguese.
Maria spends her time balancing modeling with studying full time.
