Rick Owens S/S 2012

Posted by Stephan Moskovic | September 30th, 2011

Rick Owens inspires cultlike devotion from his army of followers and with his softer offerings for spring the designer is sure to win over a host of new fans. The Owens trademarks of layering, leather and precise craftsmanship are all present in his s/s lineup but the real standout pieces were the ones that strayed from the norm. Light colors made an appearance, with shades of white and blush adding a feminine touch to the striking column gowns. We are typically treated to the gothic on Owens’ runway, this season he delved into the otherworldly to provide his audience with looks that were almost sylphlike in their flowing finery. Models looked like angels or extraterrestrials depending on who you asked, but everyone could agree on the beauty of refreshing new mood. Save the chunky fur and heavy wedges for some other time because even fashion’s dark prince has lightened up.
