Preen F/W 2012

Preen Fall/Winter 2012

Preen‘s vision has always been individual, so it seems fitting that Justin Thornton and Thea Bregazzi look towards independent women for their fall inspiration. Citing children’s author, Beatrix Potter as a reference point, Thornton and Bregazzi craft a subtly Victorian collection that thrives on print and texture. Don’t expect to see Potter’s famous character, Peter Rabbit cropping up in any of those on trend pencil skirts, the designers sought out a more esoteric reference, brining Potter’s botanical drawings to life on silken blouses and subtly sequined dresses. Pairing these fresh out of the garden touches with color-blocking and cubic patterns made for an appealing melange of the hard and soft. The look was punctuated by disco-worthy platform heels from the designers’ collection for high street brand, Aldo. The floral pair seem destined for the kind of editorial glory that elevates an accessory from striking runway piece, to real life must have.

This trend lately of the frozen in place windtunnel hair styles just aren’t working for me… Beyond the catwalk, it just looks silly.
