Mugler F/W 12
Mugler Fall/Winter 2012
Though he hasn’t helmed his namesake house in over a decade, Thierry Mugler remains a tough act to follow. Following the Mulger reboot creative director Nicola Formichetti and womenswear designer Sébastien Peigné, have created their own take on the body conscious and unsubtle ethos that made the house great and for fall the duo showcase their most compelling collection to date. While avoiding direct archival copies of classic Mugler looks, Formichetti and Peigné touch on all the right references to Thierry’s trademarks. The exaggerated shoulders, wasp-waists and bold sex appeal that made Mugler great in the early 90s all feature, but they’ve been modernized and stripped down to minimalist black and white. Bright pops of fiery color sneak in to one or two looks, but the mood is monochromatic. All in all fall finds the Mugler woman in a very powerful place, looking sexier and sleeker than she has in a long time.
