Models.com’s 2013 Year in review
From Carlyne Cerf de Dudzeele to John Casablancas and Mario Testino, 2013 for Models.com was a year of bigger than life characters that reminded us why we love fashion. With a fresh and exciting roster of contributing talent, including Luigi, Iango + Daniele, Miguel Reveriego, Christian MacDonald, Santiago & Mauricio, Barnaby Roper, Jason Kibbler, Thom Jackson, JD Forte and Kloss, Models.com’s feature stories included beautiful portraits but also pushed the boundaries on the digital format with video and moving images. It was also with sadness we saw the passing of John Casablancas; controversial to some, revolutionary to others, his influence on the modeling industry was undeniable and is still felt to this day.
Presented in chronological order, here are the highlights of Models.com’s feature stories of 2013.
Many about The Chinese.
What I love most is that models of minority ethnicity are being given more chances. The fight must continue though, otherwise we’re gonna go right back to the same old. A special shout out to Models.com for the publicity on the issue and the exposure for models of color.

China is a huge market, not unlike the luxury market that sprung up in Japan in the 80’s. Diversity is still not where I would like it, but we just have to keep pushing the envelope for change. Great stories, especially the interviews with Cerf de Dudzeele and Casablancas!
So much about China&Chinese.2013 is really a “Chinese Year”.
