In many ways Lea T’s rise to prominence in the modeling industry has been marked by a distinct degree of mystery and privacy on the part of the ground breaking model. The basic facts are well known… fit model and muse to Riccardo Tisci at Givenchy… a berth in several of the house’s runway shows as well as a slot in the FW10 campaign shot by Mert n Marcus… the memorable images in Vogue Paris (here and here) and most recently the double-slam of the Love covers. But who is the real woman behind the hype, spectacle and press buzz? As Lea prepares to bring her story to the Oprah Winfrey network MDX caught up with her for this exclusive video interview where she talks about coming to Ms Winfrey’s attention, her early days with Mr Tisci, the prejudices she has faced as a transsexual and her future dreams and goals.

Finally! Something I’ll actually watch on Oprah. I was hesitant at first to what Lea T would bring, but I think she really is a stunning model.

So she’s a transsexual, so what? She’s not even that good looking compared to people like Andrej Pejic who most likely isn’t even a transsexual. All people do is just use Lea for the attention value. It’s like emperor’s new clothes to me.
